Abaco Islands 5/23/2010

This trip was a badly needed vacation to the islands where Russell and Rob completed their bare boat certificates. We rented a house for the family in my old favorite, Hope Town, went snorkeling, sailing, and biking on the island. This was my 4th trip down there, stretching back to mid-eighties.

Mountain Road Trip with Jack 3/7/10

A two-day swing through the southwestern NC mountains with Jack Byrne. We visited Thomas Crow and Nan Watkins, stayed a cold night at the Tower (15 degrees!), had a meal in Sylva, one in Wesser (NOC), drove over a snowy Wayah Mountain, and came home via Highlands, Cashiers, Brevard, and Ceasar's Head.

This was our first trip to the USWTC in Charlotte. Rob and Russell paddled. It was too cold for me so my boat stayed on the truck! Rob had a rough run, but his second time through he made up for it with a great line through the biggest rapid on the course.

A Sunday outing on the Pacolet River with Betsy and two friends, Ben and V. We put in across from the mill at Clifton (#2) and paddled down to the confluence with the Lawson's Fork. The water level was almost perfect. It was warm and sunny. It took two hours.
