The Big Global Dance

During my two weeks in China I did encounter what I might call China's ancient core a few times-in a ceremonial smudging outside a Buddhist temple and the timeless view across West Lake in Hangzhou, in the colorful ancestors' tombs on the hillsides on the way to Yiwu, and upon arriving in that city listening to an old singer chant an ancient song in an ancestors' temple.
Three Years of Kudzu
Submitted by John Lane on Sun, 09/07/2008 - 5:36pm. gates | kudzu telegraph | kudzutelegraphThree years ago this month The Spartanburg Journal was launched, and The Kudzu Telegraph was in it. The KT has appeared every week since but one.
I'm glad the third year anniversary has arrived. Three is a magic number. Of course there's the Trinity. And there are three beans in "Jack and the Beanstalk," and of course there's "Goldilocks and Three Bears," and you always get three wishes. If Three Dog Night was right and "one is the loneliest number," then three is maybe the most mysterious and exciting.
