Last week Jack Temple Kirby died suddenly at 70 years old. Jack's death didn't make the local papers. Chances are you¹ve never heard his name, but with his passing one of the great Southern environmental historians was silenced.

Larry passed last month, and his regular column Southern Seen (often printed in these pages) has now also settled into the literary and social history he so loved.
Tower Weekend

We've called the get-away "The Tower Weekend" since the beginning, a name derived from the unique hand-built wooden tower that was once the only structure on the property.
